Como un gran compromiso recibió el rector de la Universidad Simón Bolívar, José Consuegra Bolívar, su reelección como uno de los dos representantes de las universidades privadas ante el Consejo Nacional de Educación Superior, CESU.
“Es honroso, retador y una inmensa responsabilidad el hecho de que una universidad regional, que ha venido esforzándose por alcanzar la calidad y la excelencia académica, tenga asiento en el organismo más importante en materia de orientación de políticas públicas en educación superior en el país”, sostuvo.
Consuegra Bolívar fue reelegido para el periodo 2019-2021. El otro representante escogido es el rector de la Universidad Javeriana, Jorge Humberto Peláez Piedrahita.
El CESU surgió a partir de la Ley 30 de 1992, como un organismo del Gobierno Nacional vinculado al Ministerio de Educación Nacional, con funciones de coordinación, planificación, recomendación y asesoría, y orientadas a proponer al Gobierno Nacional políticas y planes para la educación superior, mecanismos para evaluar la calidad académica de las instituciones de Educación Superior y de sus programas, reglamentación y procedimientos para organizar el Sistema de Acreditación, el Sistema Nacional de Información, exámenes de estado, entre otros.
Este organismo es presidido por la ministra de Educación y cuenta con representantes de las comunidades académicas y científicas, del sector productivo del país y de las instituciones oficiales que tienen que ver con el desarrollo del sector educativo en el nivel superior.
En estos momentos el CESU es responsable de orientar la promulgación de la política y la normatividad del Sistema de Aseguramiento de la Calidad que tiene como base el decreto-ley que será publicado en agosto por el Gobierno Nacional y toda la reglamentación correspondiente.
La posesión y toma de juramento de los recién elegidos miembros del CESU fue programada para la sesión del próximo 24 de julio.
